Indications for Microneedling
The anti-ageing procedure is aimed at stimulating microcirculation and the natural processes of collagen production and regeneration. Tiny Micro-punctures are being inflicted by means of a special device, in the region of the most prominent wrinkles or skin changes, and the wider facial skin areas. Microneedles penetrate the skin to the depth of 0,2 – 0,75mm and the procedure is considered to be painless.
Treatment results include: skin hydration, increased skin tone and smoothness causing existing wrinkles to be less visible and skin younger looking. Results become visible 24 hours after the procedure and shall last for a few months.

After the procedure, the skin will be red and flushed in a similar way to moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. The concept of Micro Skin Needling, Collagen Induction Therapy for anti-ageing is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage, such as cuts, burns and other abrasions. It can take between 4- 6 weeks before visible signs of skin regeneration are seen and the process will continue to evolve over the following months providing a gradual improvement. Although a single treatment can provide a noticeable result, ideally a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 3 weeks apart is recommended to achieve the best results . Who is Not a Good Candidate?
Not suitable for patients who:
- Have used Accutane within the last 3 months.
- Have open wounds, cuts or abrasions on the skin.
- Have active acne
- Have had radiation treatment to the skin within the last year.
- Have any kind of current skin infection/ condition (herpes simplex virus) in the area to be treated.
- Are pregnant.
- Have any history of keloid or hypertrophic scars or poor wound healing
Patients with active acne should consider alternative options before treatment, as can easily spread bacteria over the skin, potentially causing breakouts. Patients prone to cold sores should let their treatment provider know so that a preventive prescription can be given prior to the session. Also we do not treat who is pregnant or breastfeeding.
Risks and Safety
The risks of MicroNeedling treatment are very low. Some prolonged redness may occur but is rare. Infection is also rare as the skin normally heals very quickly after Intensive Microneedling treatment. Hyper-pigmentation is very uncommon following this treatment as no epidermis is removed. Patients who have a risk of hyper-pigmentation will benefit from a course of skin preparation prior to Intensive Microneedling. Mild bruising may occur especially around the eyes. This is usually mild and resolves in 5 – 7 days.
